The American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (ABOMS) hosted the 2022 Oral Certifying Examination (OCE) beginning on January 29th in Raleigh, North Carolina. The ABOMS hosted 104 Examiners who examined 442 Candidates, making this OCE the largest examination in ABOMS history.
The exam week began with a general session to brief the Examiners on the upcoming examinations and review COVID-19 safety protocols. ABOMS is committed to the health and safety of all Candidates, Examiners, Directors, and staff. The Board followed the current CDC guidelines and best-in-class safety practices and designed a plan to administer the OCE in a safe environment. Shadowing the example of the 2021 OCE, all rooms were sanitized, social distancing was encouraged, and masks were strongly enforced.
Following orientation, Examiners began an intensive, two-day calibration session to review their upcoming exams. Calibration sessions are a process that allows Examiners to review the case materials and participate in conversations with one another to help create a seamless delivery for Candidates.
The examination week started on Monday, January 31, 2022, and concluded on Friday, February 4, 2022, under the exemplary leadership of the 2022 OCE Chair, Dr. Bernard J. Costello.
Candidates who took the 2022 OCE can now log in to their profiles and locate their results. Formal letters were mailed this week.
